Description:

A simple way cuttlefish conceal themselves is to cover their body with sand. They do this by shoveling sand with their fins on to the body. This S. officinalis is partially covered with sand. Compare it to image 1461 where there is no sand on the animal and image 1452 where the sepia has disappeared completely in the sand.
