Azorean fisherman holding a 1m ML male L. forbesii by the tentacles. The squid was hand jigged from a depth of 300m above the top of a deep seamount near the island of Faial. The white box in the foreground was a 900L seawater transport tank used for transporting the smaller females of this species to shore where they were held in laboratory tanks until they laid eggs.
