Bay squid in dip net being backlit to show the transparent mantle and body. The gills are visible as faint white ovals above and below the small round black ink sac in the center of the body. The yellowish structure just forward or to the left is the digestive gland. The brain lies between the two eyes and the beak and buccal mass are visible to the left of the eyes.
