Ventral view of premature hatchling with extensive external yolk sac still present. Yolk sac must be fully resorbed at time of hatching for hatchling to survive. The small round sphere in the mantle cavity is the ink sac and just to the right of that is one of the two gills. Swim fins still very rudimentary.
