Anesthetized L. brevis showing the effect of a surgical cut to the first-order axon coming from the brain to the stellate ganglion in the mantle that controls chromatophore activity. The animal's left axon was cut and the chromatophores are all contracted on that side of the body (but not fin) in contrast to the right side of the mantle cavity.
