Description: 

Hatchling S. officinalis in laboratory culture. The black masses attached to the green netting are eggs. The hatchlings range in age from hours old to perhaps 10 days old and range in size from about 5-10 mm mantle length. There are no problems with cannibalism as long as sufficient food is provided.
